The National Football League intervened during a Monday Night Football matchup to ensure Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was physically secure. Hurts remained down on the turf following a hard and late hit delivered by Chicago defender D'Marco Jackson.
The incident occurred midway through the second quarter of a tightly contested game. According to the official broadcast updates, league officials from New York requested that he undergo a mandatory medical evaluation for a possible concussion.
With the Eagles trailing by a score of seven to zero, backup quarterback Andy Dalton stepped onto the field to replace him. Dalton promptly threw an interception in the end zone on a crucial third-and-goal play from the two-yard line.
This turnover unfortunately capped a long ninety-five-yard drive that had previously positioned Philadelphia right at the opponent's doorstep.
