Bogotá bans cell phone use in schools across the district

Education Secretary Julia Rubiano announced a new regulation that will ban mobile phones and smart devices in all 412 public schools for the entire school day, including breaks. The restriction applies to every education level and aims to reduce screen time, safeguarding students’ mental health and promoting social interaction.

School administrators will implement additional monitoring measures to enforce the rule.
