Ecuador fell behind early against Germany but equalised within two minutes. In the second half the South American side dominated possession and created the decisive chance, finishing 2‑1.
The victory makes Ecuador only the third CONMEBOL nation to defeat Germany at a World Cup and guarantees a place in the round of 32.
