Eduardo Portela: Architect of Spanish Basketball and ACB Founder
Eduardo Portela played a pivotal role in establishing the Spanish clubs association (ACB) in 1982. As a former coach, he led Barcelona to a Copa del Rey title before moving into management and presidency.
From 1990 onward, his tenure as ACB president saw the consolidation of club structures and the modernization of the league system. Portela’s visionary leadership remains a cornerstone of today’s professional basketball in Spain.
