Elena Herraiz Explains Origin of 'Vale' Word

Elena Herraiz, known from the 'Cifras y Letras' program, recently discussed the etymological journey of the word 'vale' on a podcast. She explained that the word originates from the Latin verb 'valere', initially meaning "to be healthy, to be well.

" While its usage declined after the 17th century, 'vale' regained popularity with a different meaning from the 1970s onwards, largely influenced by cinema dubbing.
