Ex-Mets pitcher Mejía survives Venezuela earthquake
Former New York Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejía survived a terrifying earthquake in Venezuela after a split-second decision saved his life. Mejía was in a hotel elevator that descended to the basement just as the building began to collapse.
The 36-year-old described the incident as a miracle after escaping the wreckage.
