Gularte and Duñabeitia set for Sporting Gijón medicals and signings

Twenty‑eight‑year‑old Uruguayan centre‑back Emanuel Gularte arrived in Gijón after a loan spell at Peñarol, ready to complete his medical and sign with Sporting Gijón. Spanish defender Aimar Duñabeitia joined him the same day, awaiting contract formalisation.

Gularte’s deal includes a mandatory purchase clause should Sporting secure promotion to La Liga this season. Coach Nicolás Larcamón praised both players, noting his familiarity with them from their time at Puebla.
