Iran captain Mehdi Taremi hits out at FIFA: They do everything to eliminate us
Despite FIFA president Gianni Infantino expressing his joy at Iran competing at the World Cup 2026, team captain Mehdi Taremi has spoken out against what he describes as unjust treatment of his side. After drawing with Egypt, Iran were forced to return to Tijuana due to political issues and now await their fate in the race for the last 16.
Taremi expressed frustration at the lack of resolution to the logistical problems the team has faced, claiming FIFA has failed to provide meaningful answers to their concerns.
