King Tides Return to South Florida Coastal Areas

King Tides returned to South Florida over the weekend of September 26 and 27, creating an unusual scene across several coastal areas. Saltwater pushed onto streets, avenues, and walkways that normally remain completely dry during regular weather conditions.

In Fort Lauderdale, local police were forced to close nearly two miles of A1A due to rising floodwaters. Meanwhile, in Miami Beach, yachts situated along the Intracoastal were practically level with the adjacent street level.

In Hollywood, the popular Broadwalk was covered by several inches of water, forcing runners, cyclists, and pedestrians to navigate around flooded zones. These striking images also raised an important and recurring question among residents and experts regarding how far inland the water managed to reach.
