Kristi Noem Files for Divorce After 34 Years of Marriage

Kristi Noem, the former Homeland Security secretary, has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Bryon Noem. The couple, who have been married for 34 years, first met as teenagers in South Dakota and built a life together on their family farm.

Legal proceedings were confirmed by her attorney, Michael K. Sabers, on September 29, 2026.

According to court records, the divorce filing cites irreconcilable differences as the primary reason for the separation. The couple shares a long history, having attended the same high school in Hamlin County before marrying in May 1992.

Bryon Noem has not yet provided a public response to the filing through his legal representatives. Kristi Noem has indicated that she will reserve further comments while the legal process is ongoing.
