Kyler Murray Named Minnesota Vikings Starting Quarterback
The Minnesota Vikings have resolved their quarterback competition early in training camp by naming Kyler Murray as their official starter. Head coach Kevin O'Connell made the formal announcement just two weeks into summer workouts.
Murray joined Minnesota on a one-year contract in March following his release from the Arizona Cardinals. The former top overall draft pick arrived as a strong contender for the role despite initial plans for an open positional battle.
He competed alongside 2024 first-round selection J. J.
McCarthy before securing the top spot on the depth chart. The decision gives Murray an immediate opportunity to reset his career with his new franchise.
