Red Parkinson Foundation launches table tennis therapy for Parkinsons

The Red Parkinson Foundation in Madrid's Bravo Murillo area is using table tennis sessions to improve balance, coordination and motivation for Parkinsons patients. Each week more than 30 participants practice fast-paced rallies to sharpen reflexes.

Coaches report that the sport stimulates neural pathways in the brain. "It's not just physical, it's a mental workout," says veteran player Javier Martínez, known as Micky.

The program aims to reach 1,000 patients by the end of 2026.
