Spain Beats Uruguay 1-0 After Muslera Error to Advance

Spain secured first place in Group H and their place in the knockout stage with a 1-0 victory over Uruguay. Alex Baena scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute after Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera failed to deal with his shot from inside the box.

The error marked Muslera's third major mistake of the tournament, and the 40-year-old was substituted at halftime by head coach Marcelo Bielsa. Uruguay, the two-time world champions, exited the tournament without a single win from their three group matches.

Spain, the reigning European champions, topped the group with seven points and will face the runner-up of Group J in Inglewood, California on Thursday.
